Mr. Smith is a native of Kansas City, MO. He was admitted to the Florida bar in 2008 and is also a member of the U.S. District Court, Middle District of Florida. He received his undergraduate degree from William Jewell College in business administration, where he also was a 4-year letterman in football. He received his Juris Doctorate from St. Thomas University School of Law in 2008. While attending St. Thomas he also earned a Master’s in Sports Administration.
Since becoming a member of the Florida Bar his practice areas include criminal and civil litigation. His experience includes clerking at the Public Defender’s office for the 11th Judicial Circuit as well as being a full-time assistant Public Defender for the 18th Judicial Circuit. Before joining J. Emory Wood, P.A., Mr. Smith also handled cases as a solo practitioner for a civil and criminal litigation firm based in Melbourne, FL. Dan currently lives in Tampa, FL, and is engaged to Katie O’Brien.
